In part 3 of the tutorial series, this video shows you how to prepare the image for Inkscape. The preparation is actually done in GIMP. Once the preparation is complete we transfer the work over to Inkscape, a freely available amazing software application (open source).
Image Preparation in GIMP
- Oversized, required special scanning
- Remember to keep tic marks in the final scan work
- Avoid photographing work, as it will yield distortions in the final product
- Using gridlines to rotate your image
- Use gridlines to centre your square selection onto
- Using a selection to crop your image to a perfect square centred on the tic registration center point
Inkscape Elements
- Calligraphy Border Graphic Element
- Diamonds Graphic Element (not shown)
- Medallion Graphic Element
- Rings Graphic Element
- Gold Letter C Graphic Element
- Signing Block (not shown)
Come back next week to see part 4 for final image processing all done in GIMP.
